A new tidbit!!!

Just wanted to make a quick post that since Wednesday I have lost 2.5 pounds!!!  My first week of WW isn't even up until this coming Wednesday!!! YEAH!!!!

More to come...OH...here is a smoothie recipe

1/2 cup of plain tart frozen yogurt
1 cup frozen whole strawberries
1 cup of skim milk
1 Yoplait Greek Yogurt (any flavor)

Blend and enjoy!!! I did tonight and it was delicious!

Day 3 and Happy New Years Eve!!!

I want to be honest about everything I am doing or this blog is pointless.

Today is day three of my weight loss journey.  I love WW.  Yesterday was my first day of the Shakeology cleanse.  I started the day with a wheatberry shake, 2 hours later had a small apple, around 11:45 made my 2nd shake and had a banana.  I had 1 cup of green tea early in the morning and then just drank water.  By the time I got home I was starving.  I had a huge salad.  After I ate the salad I started to get a headache.  The headaches were kind of off and on throughout the day.  So, I regret to report that I will not be going further with it for day two which would be today.  The taste is too much for me.  It tastes like vitamins and the aftertaste is not great.  When I made my second shake yesterday I used the chocolate mixed with water and it was very frothy.  The texture alone did not do so well with me.  I know that a cleanse is not supposed to taste like ice cream, but I should be able to bear it.  I just couldn't.  Maybe I will use it as a supplement and mix it with soy or almond milk. 

So, today I have begun my day with a Myoplex shake.  I mix 1 scoop of Myoplex power with one cup of milk, a banana and ice.  Blend and enjoy.  This is 3 WW points and includes 23 grams of protein.  The taste is rather good and I feel like I am drinking a malt.  I am allowed 29 points per day right now with 49 flex points for the entire week.  These points will go down as I get closer to my goal weight.  I am looking forward to working out this morning!  I am thinking I will run on the treadmill and lift some weights.  My Zumba has not arrived yet or I would do that.  For lunch I will have another shake and for dinner tonight we are having salmon and a nice salad.

Recipie of the Day

I have decided to post my recipes as an actual post.  Hope you got the one from yesterday... here is the one for today!

Garden Vegetable Soup

2/3 cup sliced carrots
1/2 cup minced onion
2 garlic cloves minced
3 cups of fat-free MSG free broth
1 1/2 cups diced cabbage
1/2 cup of green beans
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon of dried basil
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup diced zucchini

1.  In large saucepan saute garlic, onion, and carrots over low heat for about 5 minutes (until softened)
2.  Add broth, cabbage, beans, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt and bring to a boil.  Lower heat and simmer about 15 minutes3
3.  Stir in zucchini and heat 3-4 minutes.

Makes 4 one cup servings. (For those of you on WW this is 0 points)

Day 2

Day 1 was a success.  However I did use a few of my flex points (6 to be exact) because I enjoyed a pretty big bowl of ruby red grapefruit.  Oh well!  It was delicious.  When I got home last night I looked on the counter and there it was...my Shakeology cleanse! Woo Hoo! 

Today is the first day of my 3 day cleanse.  I started today with the Wheatberry shake.  I actually didn't mind it so much.  I hear it's better when you are using it as a supplement and don't have to drink it with just plain ole water.  But for cleansing purposes I had to have it with water.  It has somewhat of a fruity taste but kind of leaves a Flinstone vitamin aftertaste in your mouth. But really...for a cleanse shake that you have to mix with water it wasn't bad.  I also had a cup on hot green tea and a bottled water.  Fruit is optional.  I brought with me one banana and one apple.  I will have the apple in a couple of hours if I need it.  As of right now I don't feel hungry.  For lunch I will have my chocolate Shakeology cleanse shake and if I need it a banana.  Then for dinner I will have salad and salmon (no dressing).  Maybe some fresh squeezed lemon juice.  Throughout the day I will be enjoying more water and more green tea (and I don't mean green tea from Starbucks).  I will let you know either later tonight after dinner or tomorrow how the rest of today went!

Day 1

Today is the first day of my fitness journey!  I am very excited.  Woo Hoo!!!!!  This is my plan (so far) to get fit.  Today I joined Weight Watchers and for three months I am going to track my points.  I have done WW before and I really like it and it works for me.  My daily point value is 29 points and my "extra" weekly allotment is 49 points.  My Myoplex breakfast shake is 3 points.  Fruits and vegetables are 0 points.  There are a lot of ways to stay satisfied.  I am just so excited. 

I have 13 points left for today.  I had a Myoplex shake with a banana for breakfast, Apple Cinnamon Daybreak Blend for a snack, 1 glass of water, and 2 cups of green tea so far.  For lunch I am going to have Campbell's Hearty Tomato and Pasta soup for lunch with a bottled water.   Surprisingly I am not hungry. 

I am going to complete the Shakeology 3-day cleanse when it arrives (Thanks Amy).  I also ordered Zumba which I will start when it arrives.  I have a lot to look forward to.  I am already the proud owner of P90X so I may change up my Zumba with the P90X.

I will keep you posted on all that I am doing and I will be posting my first round of numbers next Wednesday!

My Fitness History (a short tale)

My goodness where do I begin?  I have always been kind of a yo-yo dieter if you will.  When I graduated high school I weighed in at a whopping 180 pounds and that is a lot for someone who is 5'1".  Then there was a time in my early 20's that I was a size 2.  Seems impossible to me.  HA.  Then I gained weight, lost weight, gained weight and now I am back to the losing weight part. 

I had my daughter in December 2008.  I was not a fit pregnant woman.  That was the biggest mistake.  I gained a lot of weight and I gained it very quickly.  All of the things I wanted to do while pregnant I didn't do.  I always pictured myself this cute little "skinny" pregnant girl.  Not the case at all; in fact the complete opposite. BLT's became my favorite food group.  I ate a lot of BLT's! No bueno!

So now I am on this journey to become fit.  I am very excited and I hope you are too!  Together we can get fit in 2011 and teach ourselves and each other a lifetime of change.

I am not going to post my beginning weights and measurements just yet.  I need to become really comfortable with that first.  I will get there...promise. 

I got the idea to start a fitness blog from my friend Amy (her fitness blog link is listed on my blog).  She looks awesome!  Go Amy!  I think that having a fitness blog will help hold me accountable for my actions.  I want to be healthier, live longer, and overall feel better.  I have decided to put down the clicker, step up and get fitter!!!
